About AK Marine Trails

This platform was built by Jono and Chuck (aka Bogey), who paddled the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Skagway in 2022. Along the way they realised that the growing interest in the route justified a dedicated site — a central resource to store, display, and share campsite and hazard information for the journey.

Why it exists

Many kayakers run into trouble when they can't reach their intended campsite for the evening and need a Plan B. Instead of poking around a dark shoreline trying to find a rock flat enough to pitch a tent, this resource allows for better pre-trip planning and real-time decision making on the water.

While plenty of experienced paddlers have no trouble finding their own spot, others feel more comfortable knowing they have options if Plan A falls through — especially in Alaska's remote stretches where bad weather or tide timing can change everything.

Community data

All site information is contributed and maintained by the kayaking community. Treat every entry with appropriate scepticism — what one paddler calls a campsite, another might call impenetrable upland. Conditions on the ground change seasonally and sometimes dramatically between visits.

If you've paddled the route and have corrections, additions, or photos to share, please get in touch. Every contribution makes this resource better for the next person.
